Welcome to Kindergarten
Hello Families,
Welcome and welcome back!
This information is duplicate from the email you received earlier in the summer regarding Kindergarten and Staggered Entry.
Arriving at School
On a regular school day, students are greeted at the East (garden) doors. If you happen to be late and the door is closed, please enter the school through the front doors and stop by the office to check in and receive a late slip.
School Hours
Monday - Thursday:
AM: 8:10am - 11:00am
PM: 11:55am - 2:45pm
Friday (alternating AM/PM):
8:10am - 12:15pm
Please refer to the Lake Bonavista School 2021 – 2022 calendar (on the‘Our School’ page of our website) for the specific Fridays your child will be attending Kindergarten: Lake Bonavista School Calendar
Independence
Please send in a pair of indoor shoes with your child’s name inside to help avoid mix-ups or lost shoes. To help your child be independent and timely, we ask that students are able to put on their shoes independently; Velcro and slip on running shoes are usually the best options for Kindergarten students. We also encourage the students to learn to undress and dress their outdoor clothing independently when arriving and leaving school.
Clothing
Please send an extra set of clothing (including underwear) with your child in a labeled bag, which will be placed on your child’s coat hook. Students are becoming independent, however sometimes accidents do happen and it is helpful to be prepared.
Daily Snack
Children are asked to bring a snack to school each day. We ask that the snack is a manageable size your child can eat in a 10-15 minute time frame. To promote independence it is helpful if the snack is easily opened and cleaned up by each student. Fresh fruit, veggies, cheese and crackers are always a great option. We are a nut-aware school, please inform us of any allergies your child has on your staggered entry day.

Dismissal
It is our top priority that your children get home safely each day. If your child’s usual routine at the end of the day changes for any reason, for example “being picked up by grandma today” or “not riding the bus home and will be picked up by dad instead”, both the classroom teacher and the office MUST be notified of any dismissal changes (before the start of class that day) via email or the attendance phone line (403-777-6871 and press 1).
The Lake Bonavista School calendar indicates non-instructional days and alternating Fridays: Lake Bonavista School Calendar
With gratitude,
